United Methodist Woman
The organized unit of United
Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose
is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through
Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to
expand concepts of mission through participation in the global
ministries of the church .
The Oaklawn unit meeting is held
at the church on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m.
However, the unit does not meet during the months of July and
August. We have a business meeting along with a short program on
Missions, refreshments and fellowship.
Our Oaklawn unit
consists of three circles that all meet on the 2nd Tuesday of most
months. The Grace Circle meets at 6:00 p.m. at the church. The Sarah
Elizabeth Circle meets at 7:00 p.m. at the church. The Lydia Circle
meets at 10:00 a.m. usually in members' homes. The circles are
responsible for distributing the Sunday altar flowers to shut-ins or
members in the hospital if the donors don't wish to distribute them.
The circles also take turns hosting the unit meetings.
We
invite you to membership in the Oaklawn United Methodist Women.
Joining this group of committed women is a unique opportunity to
share in nearly 100 years of local, community, state, national and
worldwide service from this church. You do not need to be a member
of this church to be a member of Oaklawn United Methodist Women.
Come join us. we would love to include you in our fellowship! |
